Since the 2019 season (Super Bowl LIV), the AFC has covered at a rate of 4-1 against the spread and the under has also come out at a rate of 4-1. The Chiefs have been on a tear appearing in 4 out of the last 5 games and covering the spread in 3 of them. In all Super Bowl games, the favored team has won at a 37-20-0 rate straight up but that levels out to 26-29-2 rate when you factor in the point spread (there has been one Pick-Em match up). Since the 1999 season there have been seven Super Bowls in which both QBs made their first appearance and in those games, the favorite went 4-2-1 ATS and 5-2 SU. Super Bowl LIII was the lowest scoring Super Bowl in the game’s history with the Patriots beating the Rams 13-3. Only two Super Bowls have gone to overtime in the 58-year history of the game, Super Bowl LI in 2016 and Super Bowl LVIII in 2024. In Super Bowl LI, the New England Patriots overcame a 28-3 deficit to beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28. In Super Bowl LVIII, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime.
